Since 1992, I have been involved in the William Penn School District when my first child entered Kindergarten. I served on district committees, was the Home and School President for several terms and was President of the Penn Wood Educational Foundation. My unique history allows me to view the education of our children from both lenses, one as a parent and the other as a teacher. I began working in the district as a secretary in 2002, and worked in a supplemental capacity as a Technology Liaison.

This is my first year as the Ardmore Avenue and Colwyn Librarian. I am a certified librarian and am pursuing my Masters in Library Sciences at Mansfield University.

My goal has been to organize our newly renovated library, weed out the collection, and purchase some new books to replace ones with outdated information and ancient copyright dates.

Through a partnership with our former principal, Mrs. Welsh, we were able to add to our collection with hardback and paperback donations made by students, teachers and community members from the Shamona Creek Elementary School. In addition, we received funding from the school district and the Home and School Association to purchase $4,000 worth of new books for the library, and it looks inviting and colorful too!

Parents: you are an integral part of the educational process. Encourage your child to bring his/her BEST self to school. The library may be the most important place in any school because it gives them the opportunity to learn, investigate, research, and contribute things that are meaningful to them and to the world.
