What do you Wonder About?

WONDERPOLIS

The theme in the Ardmore Avenue Library for 2014-2015 is WONDER.

In our school library, students learn how to approach a research project through the six steps found in Barbara Striplings Model of Inquiry. I like to start with W-O-N-D-E-R because children just wonder about the world around them. Kindergarten and first grade students have no problem with this. They ask questions about everything. What is your favorite flower? Why? Why do birds sing? What do we have to go to school?, but somehow, as children progress through school, they stop asking as many questions, or wondering out loud. I believe that you cannot become a life-long learner unless you cultivate the need to ask the essential questions of the universe.
